The Televisual Factual Festival, November 2018, is a fantastic event that connects Commissioners with Production Companies and the coterie of businesses providing services to them. A veritable one stop shop for all things Factual.
A highlight, for me, was the interview that Stacey Dooley gave to Brian Woods (founder of True Vision).
The Factual Festival mainly deals with the production companies that provide the Broadcast channels their home grown content. A couple of years ago there was a lack of any consideration for digital channels from YouTube, Vimeo, Netflix etc. Then BBC3 switched to digital only and it was as though it was no longer worthy. Someone in the audience must have mentioned Stacey, at a talk by Damian Kavanagh, because he leapt to her defence and his channel (Damian was the BBC3 controller). Pointing out that all BBC3 content makes it to the broadcast channels, it is first run on the digital channel. He also praised Stacey, she is very highly regarded at BBC3.
Two years later how things have changed. Stacey has been invited to give an interview! She makes a very low profile arrival on the stage at BAFTA, partly because she had to pop over from rehearsals for the Strictly Come Dancing show (which she went on to win).
