Stacey Dooley at the Factual Festival 2018

Asked what sort of projects she wanted to do, she said it was mainly to listen to proposals from production companies that she trusts. Those that will let her look in on the edit although she was not looking to edit the whole program.

Someone she knew asked whether, now she had some celebrity, she would now take on different types of Factual productions and she said that while she would keep doing her serious programs she is now more willing to consider more entertainment based shows. To this she said she would and outlined a show that she was working on. I will keep this a secret though!

Asked what her dream project would be she said that she had already done some of her dream projects. Although she had tried to get in to China a couple of times and failed, she had also tried to get in to Iran. So those countries remain on her wish list.

A last question was how she feels about the disparity between being at the production meetings and then being treated differently on location. Stacey said she had really come through that now, people initially didn’t know whether she was a presenter or contributor. She now does a lot of her own research and is much more involved in the production.

To wrap up it was a very worthwhile session for me. I once had the opinions that were delicately referenced. I can now see how her journey has progressed. BBC3 is a channel that was set up for 16-34 year olds so Stacey has a while to go but I’m  sure they will want to develop talent at their entry range.  Meanwhile Stacey is looking for new projects and adventures. I would recommend that you go along to any presentation that she gives.
