What happens when you receive a pitch?
C5, a small team, you can contact any of the team by EMail. we are a populist channel, we do want to engage the audience. be simple but clever. Rich House Poor House for example.
ITV are tabloid, think how you build off that top line. Someone came in with just a picture/poster
C4 you can speak to all of the team. They are after new Talent – BAME so they can market around the world.
Alisa – don’t come in with 10 ideas. 2 is better. Would you watch it above everything else.
Two things you need : know what channels are looking for – but it changes weekly. When then say the like the idea they can.
Note: I got a bit confused about whether commissioners are talking about Top Line or LogLine. For Factual you should have about a page ready for the Pitch and know the the Top Line is what they really want to hear. Think about a pitch as a series of hurdles that you have to pass. You may well end producing a Treatise but they advise that you will get feedback early on. Sometimes producers come in with an idea that they have been working on months – but it the idea is not what they are looking for .. that’s just too bad.
If the commissioners like the idea, you can give them completed idea but also an unformed pitch means they can work with you to develop it.
