Question from Audience – how can distributors help with presales? They all do a lot but remember content has to be good because their other option is to pick up series from the BBC at end of life. This sort of addresses the paradox that producers struggle to get their projects commissioned and yet commissioners struggle to get good content.
Another question was about the 10% cut that distributors take from money that comes from co-producers. This is quite normal in the normal business world. In the fully commissioned market the distributor may take 25-30%.
This point was raised on another Panel, if a commissioner likes your project but they cannot fully fund it they are likely to help you get the funding you need. So look at commissioners as an allie.
